[Preview] Parklife Weekender 2013 - Who to see?
As you may have noticed over here on SKOA, Festival season is fully in swing. We've already had a heap of fun with trips to Live at Leeds, Dot to Dot, and Sasquatch. Summer is even yet to officially begin but this weekend we'll be hitting up Manchester's Parklife Weekender. Having grown at a rapid rate since its early years, 2013 sees it offer up its biggest line-up to date along with its biggest venue and capacity. After last year, the organisers, Warehouse Project, felt it had become a bigger being than Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield and announced earlier in the year that it'd take part at Manchester's Heaton Park. After teasing us with a few big names early in the year the full line-up was announced and boy does it deliver. With that in mind, some of you may be a little stumped as to who to give some of your allocated weekend sunshine fun time to this weekend. We thought we'd offer up a handful of artist we here at SKOA are going to be jumping up and down to this weekend, June 8-9.
Who: Action Bronson
Where: Curated by Hudson Mohawke (Sunday)
Why: Any man who can entertain as much as this while most likely high as a kite is cool in my books. Add to that the possibility of a cart-wheel and you've got my attention Mr. Bronson.
Who: Disclosure
Where: Sounds of the Near Future (Saturday)
Why: With the rising duo only having released their album, Settle, the very week they're set to headline the WHP/Now Wave curated stage, fans will already be very familair with tracks such as "White Noise". Their album is a joy to the ears and it's made for the big stages of Festivals this summer. Catch them while you can!
Who: King Krule
Where: Now Wave (Sunday)
Why: We've been fans of young Archy for a while. The young talent has been makign wave son both sides of the pond with his signature croon and this weekend he's sure to help mellow you out during the intense heat of the midday sun.
Who: Jessie Ware
Where: Main Stage (Saturday)
Why: There's a few singers who have the personality to back up the stunning voice and this past twelve months has seen Jessie prove herself on numerous occasions. Her life vocal is impeccable and her off stage banter is next to none. Be sure to have your heart melted by this phenomenal talent late on the Saturday. You never know, if you check out Disclosure, you may be treated to a guest appearance too.
Who: Danny Brown
Where: Curated by Hudson Mohawke (Sunday)
Why: Danny's trademark delivery and style has grabbed him headlines for numerous reasons over the past few years. In more recent, for some rather alarming ones some might say. None of that nonsense this weekend as he takes to the stage after Action Bronson though. A man sure to entertain whatever the weather, we're sure he'll be all smiles.
Who: Simian Mobile Disco
Where: Big Top (Sunday)
Why: It may have been over a year since the London group released their third studio album, Unpatterns, but they're certainly a nice way to close out your weekend of fun at the Big Top before TEED clsoes the day. No doubt the entire tent will be bouncing from start to finish.
All tickets for the weekend and days are now sold out. See you in the fields!
