[Watch] Foster the People Perform on Saturday Night Live

It goes without saying that Foster the People have exploded over the course of the summer, going from no-names to mainstream icons in less than a year. Their single "Pumped Up Kicks" has been blasted on radio stations all over the world, to the point that it is clearly overplayed. Whether or not you're off or on the Foster the People bandwagon, you can't deny that the band has had an impressive history. Last night, the L.A. trio made their way to the Saturday Night Live studio to perform both "Pumped Up Kicks" and "Houdini."

While it's clear they were a bit nervous to perform on SNL, especially frontman Mark Foster, the inclusion of an expanded band gave the lead singer some confidence. The group were even joined by Kenny G in the finalminutes of their performance of "Houdini." You can watch both performances after the jump.

You can also read our review of their debut album Torches here.

[Listen] Foster The People - "Pumped Up Kicks" Feat. Kendrick Lamar

Foster The People's summer smash "Pumped Up Kicks has been impossible to escape over the past 3 months which isn't a bad thing at all, but it has meant you may get a little bored of it. With the high radio play rate comes a huge array of remixes and covers as we've previously seen it doesn't help the possible boredom that may begin to creep into the most die hard of fans. However, today we have a nice remix of the track which feels like a breath of fresh air after the onslaught of the summer months.

Hypetrak points us towards this rework of the track from Power 106's DJ Reflex who's taken care of production and LA rapper Kendrick Lamar who has laid down some bars over a few of the verses. The results are satisfying and it gives the song a new lease of life (for me anyway). Slowing down the pace of the track and making it a whistle filled mix Kendrick's verses flow, nicely complementing the beats. Check it out below via LA Leakers.

[Listen] The Kooks - "Pumped Up Kicks" (Foster The People Cover) Radio One's Live Lounge

The Kooks were today's musical guest of choice in Radio One's Live Lounge and they decided to cover the summer anthem that we've previously seen big hitters Weezer cover, you know the one I'm talking about, it's Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks". A little bit of a shaky start from Luke but after 30 seconds the songs picks up pace and works pretty well. I've always found Luke's live vocals to be a little 'off' at times so give it a listen for yourselves below and let us know if you approve.

[Watch] Foster The People Cover Weezer's "Say It Ain't So"

Just over a week ago Foster The People officially made it when music heavyweights Weezer covered their insanely catchy summer anthem, "Pumped Up Kicks". Now to return the favour LA boys Foster The People decided to play "Say It Ain't So" at a recent show in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. When Weezer did their cover they made "Pumped Up Kicks" their own and it sounded like a Weezer track through and through. FTP have done a decent cover but it's the more straight up kind, the ones where it could just be any other guys playing the track and it still sounds like the original. You know? Fair play to the guys though for giving it a good go and not slaughtering it into some unrecognisable mess, instead it's just a decent cover of a classic Weezer track. Check it out at the top via We All Want Someone.

[Watch] Weezer Cover Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks"

By this point we know that Weezer have a penchant for doing cover versions of songs, we've heard them do Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart", Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" along with them playing Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag" at the last two festival appearances I've witnessed them at. So we know they're not afraid to try new things and cover whatever they god damn feel like.

Footage appeared online over the weekend of them covering LA boys Foster The People and their track "Pumped Up Kicks". An unusual choice some might say as Foster The People are still pretty small but after this they'll be feeling a little more pumped no doubt. Check out the fan shot footage above.

[Watch] Foster The People - "Helena Beat" (Video)

Foster The People go all crazy post-apocalyptic in their video for "Helena Beat" off their release Torches. The video was directed by Ace Norton and features a world ruled by children who apparently want to torture and perform a random experiment on FTP frontman Mark Foster.

The band is currently on tour and from the looks of their tour dates (which are after the jump) they don't plan on stopping any time soon.
