[SKOA Presents] Kenna - "Static (Unplugged)" Live @ Tainted Blue Studios 5/5/2011

Last Thursday I had the priviledge of attending a private party featuring a very special performance by none other than SKOA founder favorite Kenna. In addition to taking the time to play through his latest release, Land 2 Air Chronicles: Chaos & Darkness, he also shared some back story on a few older songs. One of which was the tender track from his 2007 release Make Sure They See My Face, "Static". He took to the piano and gave what was probably one of the most intimate perfomances of the song to date. You can check out the performance above.

Land 2 Air Chronicles: Chaos & Darkness is available on iTunes.

[Watch] Kenna - "Chains" (Video)

Moment's ago, Kenna tweeted the video to accompany his single, "Chains" from Land 2 Air Chronicles I: Chaos and Darkness, which dropped on Tuesday. I'm going to have to watch this a few times to see what all the cartoons and things are all about. I also have the sudden urge to go into a hip clothing store and start a dance party in there at random.

Make sure you pick up L2AC if you haven't already!

[Listen] Kenna - Land To Air Chronicles: The Chaos & Darkness

Kenna's latest release and first self-release, Land To Air Chronicles: The Chaos & Darkness, officially dropped today. Thanks to MySpace, you can have a listen to the entire thing before you head over to iTunes and pick it up for yourself.

I have mixed feelings about this EP. As a longtime fan, I'm glad he's pressing on and doing this himself. Mostly all great things thought. "Chains" took a few spins to grow on me, but now I really like it. I was drawn to "Kharma Is Coming" almost instantly. I like how guitar driven it is. Really different from his previous efforts. "What U Want" leaves me with mixed emotions. This song had been floating around for awhile as a potential song on Lupe Fiasco's Lasers album and featured Kenna on background vocals. I don't know the full story here as far as who wrote what or exactly why the track seemed to have gotten passed around so much, but hearing a different version from someone else completely kind of left me with a bad taste in my mouth before I even pressed play. That being said, it's not a bad track at all. It probably won't rank high of all time songs, but it's still pretty solid.

The EP is the first of a three part series under the name Land To Air Chronicles. Following the EP series, a full length titled Songs For Flight is due to follow thereafter.

Have a listen to the EP below and drop us a comment to tell us what you think!

[Watch] Kenna - "Chains" (Video Trailer)

Kenna is moving full speed ahead after a recent hard drive crash forced him to re-record all three EPs of the Land to Air Chronicles series that were due to consecutively start dropping on April 5th. Now that he has set a new release date for LTAC 1: Chaos And Darkness for April 26th, we're clearly going to be getting a video for the single "Chains" per the teaser clip above to start the momentum up again.

This is Kenna's first release as an independent artist, so we're looking forward to seeing him operate as a free man.

What do you think of "Chains"?

[Listen] Lupe Fiasco - "What U Want" Feat. Kenna

Check out another cut track from Lupe's latest chart topping album LASERS titled "What U Want" featuring Kenna. An unfinished version of this track hit the net last year and we now have the full version. IMO, i still think the songs that were cut from the finished (Atlantic controlled) version of LASERS are 200% better than what made it on the final album. What do you think? Check out the song below.
