[News] New Gruff Rhys track "Sensations In The Dark" coming 7th Feb.
Gruff Rhys is to make the song available to download from 17th January which gives us a reason to look forward to next week, following this though the full "Sensations In The Dark" single including an exclusive B-side called "Follow The Sunflower Trail (Theme Tune For A National Strike)" will arrive on the 7th of February, along with a video.
The track is to feature on Gruff's upcoming album Hotel Shampoo of which Gruff says : “I thought that as I’m getting on a bit, the time had come to buy a suit and record an album of piano ballads...However, I got bored, the record diversified and evolved – things turned out a bit differently…” I'm a little excited for this album as loved the lead track "Shark Ridden Waters". The album's name Hotel Shampoo is inspired by his travels over the years in bands. We saw a little of this back in November with this video, relating to an art installation at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff. In regards to the installation and album name he states, “Having never kept a journal these items have become like diary entries, triggering memories of all those buildings and random people I've met and inspiring songs on the album”.
Gruff is soon to set on tour accross the UK too bringing along the North Wales’s instrumental surf rock quartet, Y Niwl, pronounced “uh nule” in case you were wondering and it means ‘The Fog’ translated. The band will support Gruff as well as help out on some of his tracks when performing. Check out the dates after the jump.
