[News] Queens of the Stone Age Set To Hit The Studio After Glastonbury

News has come, finally, of a new Queens of the Stone Age album in the works! Well, almost. It's been a long time coming, but now we can finally sleep soundly at night knowing it will be on its way shortly. Yesterday Josh Homme was on the phone with Radio One's resident dropper of good news, Zane Lowe. As fans will probably know, QOTSA have been hitting up small venues the world over playing their debut Self Titled classic album from front to back. When talking to Zane though, Josh admits playing the same setlist day in day out is getting kind of old, and they've been doing it well over a month now as we were on hand to see once of the first performances back in March.

I'm not gonna lie: I'm sick of doing the first record...I love the first record, but we've never played the same setlist before. But then were playing really deep cuts [after the album performance] because it just it feels like a special night. Were playing really small places.

Next came the exciting stuff though. Talks of recording a new album and hitting up the studio once more to write/record new material.

Were going to take our one last break that we would get for a month, and come back [to the UK] and do Glastonbury, then immediately jump in the studio...Our record will be done by the end of the year. We have enough songs. Were at a weird moment where we really don't feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them.

And rightly so. It seems like all the guys want to do is play to their fans! Look out for more news on this in the coming weeks but for now we can finally quit with the rumours and put them to bed. New QOTSA by the end of the year! With a few more UK shows to come this week all I can say is roll on Saturday and Manchester Academy for what's sure to be a top notch rendition of a personal favourite album of mine. I wonder what Josh's bottle of choice for stage time will be this time. I'll let you know on Monday, once my hangover from has subsided! Happy Thursday and thanks to ZaneLowe.fm. Check out the recently announced American Tour dates after the jump. along with their shows with Soundgarden.
