[Listen] Beach House - "Equal Mind"
Another new track from Beach House has hit the net following us getting to enjoy another just last week, "Lazuli". My Blog Cliché points towards a little number called "Equal Mind" which was released along with "Lazuli" for Record Store Day. It won't feature on the band's forthcoming follow up to 2010's Teen Dream, Bloom which drops on the 14th of May. Check out "Equal Mind" below and look out for more Beach House hitting the net in the lead up to the new LP.
[Listen] Sigur Rós - "Kvistur"
The good vibes just keep on rolling after a weekend of vinyl lovers the world over comes to a close. Sigur Rós were another band to put out a limited run for Record Store Day and they chose to put out "Ekki Múkk" which came nicely packaged with an featured an unheard track by the name of, "Kvistur". A beautiful track from a beautiful band and on a plus note, "Kvistur" won't feature on their upcoming release in May, Valtari. Check it out below.
[Listen] St. Vincent - "Krokodil" x "Grot"
Another Record Store Day release that many were hankering for was a 7" from Annie Clark aka St. Vincent. On that 7" were two brand new tracks from the guitar whiz and boy are they good. The tracks are dirty, fuzzy monsters that you'll just keep on going back to again and again for more listens. Check out "Krokodil" and "Grot" below.

[Listen] Mastodon - "A Spoonful Weighs a Ton" (Flaming Lips Cover)
Last week we got to preview the awesome sounding release from Feist and Mastodon that they put out for Record Store Day. Speaking of, we hope you had an awesome day on Saturday and managed to get everything you wanted! As well as that release with Feist, Mastodon offered up a cover of The Flaming Lips' 1999 track "A Spoonful Weighs A Ton". Of course as with most things on tumblr that have a fan base, Mastodon have a Fuck Yeah site who, following RSD, posted up the track which can now be streamed below. We'll be throwing up more RSD releases throughout the morning so be prepared for some more awesome coming your way.
[Watch] The Black Angels - "Entrance Song" (NSFW Video)
The Black Angels pick up an attractive naked hitchhiker (thus NSFW) in their new video for their latest track, "Entrance Song". With Record Store Day just a few days away (yessss) don't forget about their exclusive RSD release of their new track, "I'd Rather Be Lonely" which will be released on 7" orange vinyl and will include another unreleased song, "Watch Out Boy". Included in the package is a download card featuring a bonus MP3 of their cover of The Zombies’ “She’s Not There.”
The band is currently out on tour in the US. You can head over to their official website for more details.
[News] The Flaming Lips To Use Blood From Neon Indian, Prefuse 73, Ke$ha, And Others For RSD Release Packaging
As we reported last week, The Flaming Lips are gearing up for some pretty cool releases for this year's Record Store Day. Today we have learned that the ever-eccentric band is going one step further and doing an extremely limited pressing of both head scratching and nausea-inducing proportions. NME is reporting that the band revealed that they will be using the blood of some of the contributors for The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends. Lead singer Wayne Coyne told MTV Hive, "What I'm going to try to do - and I'm collecting stuff for it as we speak - is I'm going to try to make a record that has every person's blood in the record. I don’t have everybody’s blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vials of blood and it’s actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak..I’m going to try to take that same concept and put little bits of everybody’s blood in the middle of this record. Like a glass specimen thing.” While the band hasn't unveiled all of the contributors that he will be collecting specimen from, as Pitchfork points that Flaming Lips fan site Psych Explorations of the Future Heart are keeping tabs on possible blood donors which include Prefuse 73, Ke$ha, and Neon Indian.
If you're worried about whether or not your copy of The Flaming Lips And Heady Fwends will be blood-ridden or not, according to Coyne there will probably only be five or six of the blood records made and will likely be bought by, "interested rich Flaming Lips people" as Coyne put it.
This is not the first time Coyne has used blood in the band's art. Remember the ACL posters he made with his own blood? I've gotta hand it to The Flaming Lips, while this blood vinyl deal grosses me out a bit, I'm not desensitized to the whole thing because they've done plenty of other crazy things before this.
