[SXSW 2011] Check Out: De Staat
After following a link per the suggestion of a reader from Twitter, De Staat has since pricked my curosity.
The band is from Holland and has already seen a lot of success back in their home country, winning the prestigious 3VOOR12 AWARD 2009 for best album in the Netherlands, and was voted Best Album of 2009 in Live XS Magazine for their album, Wait For Evolution. After re-releasing WFE internationally, they are taking to North America to see if they can experience the same kind of success with their recently released album Machinery. Their single from the album, "Sweatshop" is cheeky but still charmingly smooth and has a video (above) to match.
Okay, De Staat. You have my attention. Your move.
Be sure to check them out while they're at SXSW at these fine locations:
Friday March 18th - Dutch Impact Party @ West Tent, Brush Square Park, 5PM
Saturday March 19th @ BD Rileys, 8PM
[SXSW 2011] Check Out: Pulled Apart By Horses
The Leeds 4 piece, Pulled Apart By Horses, can bring the noise and aren't afraid to injure themselves in the process. And yeah a lot of bands can be said to that. These boys do it all with there tongues firmly in there cheeks and I like that. If you want to check out an energetic performance from a rising UK band with their second album in the works I advise you to check these guys out. Just watch out for your teeth if the guitars start flying into the crowds, it happens!

[SKOA Presents] SXSW 2011 Or Bust!
We are counting down the hours until Shey, Rocko and I hop on our respective planes from our humble homes and hit the hip streets of Austin, TX for SXSW. While we are all n00bz to the pure mayhem and insanity that is SXSW, we think/hope we have appropriately prepped our livers, iCals, eardrums, etc. for the days ahead of us. Although it is hard to tell how our days in Austin will actually pan out, we have carefully combed through every party, panel and showcase and prepared the following agenda in case you care to follow along or even follow us around. Mind you, we all have a few bands here and there that aren't playing a specific party that we'll be checking out as well, but this is a pretty good idea of where to find us.
If you don't see something on our list that you think we should check out, please drop us a comment!
Here we go!

The film is set to premiere this week at South by Southwest's film festival, so watch the trailer after the jump, sit back, and enjoy! And remember, licking a car window may not be the most sanitary thing to do.

[Watch] Third Man Records' Rolling Record Store
Oh Jackie, my Jackie. You're always coming up with ways to spread the vinyl loving and I adore you for that. This time Jack White and his Third Man Records team have put their pop up store on wheels and are calling it the Rolling Record Store. For those of us lucky enough to be heading down south to Austin for SXSW, the Rolling Record Store will be making its debut from the 16th-20th.
No word yet if there will be any special SXSW-only releases like they did for the LA + NYC TMR pop-up stores in the past, but we'll keep you posted of its awesomeness upon arrival to Austin, so keep your eyes peeled here!

[Listen] Astronautalis - "Midday Moon"
Another little gift for your Thursday Afternoon in the form of an Astronautalis track titled "Midday Moon". The track is mega chilled and a perfect wind down to a hectic day. A nice rising start into the mellow first verse and it's all good from there in. Check it out for yourself below or if you happen to be at SXSW in a few weeks why not hit up our Axis of Audio party and see the man in the flesh, you know you want to. For more details of the show head on over here or to RSVP you can do so here. Either way check out the track above, sitback and enjoy. To grab a copy of "Midday Moon" to spin as much as you want, whenever you want, just hit up Astro's Bandcamp page.
