[SONG OF THE DAY] Crush Club - "Trust"
The boys are back in town! The boys are back in town! The boys are back in town! The boys are back in town! Of course I’m talking about the dopest disco dudes to roam the New York City streets in a minute, Crush Club. The delightful duo are back home from their tour with SOFI TUKKER and LP GIOBBI, but of course when you’re as high energy as they are there’s no slowing down. Yesterday my new favorite humans dropped another single, “Trust”, a song about the complexities of feeling like you can’t be 💯 with a partner due to lack of trust. As vocalist TC Milan explained, “‘Trust' is about how sometimes the hardest thing to do is say what you need. Love can blind and confuse you, and when I was recently in this emotional state the thing I needed the most was trust. I didn’t get it. So we wrote this song.”
Been there, TC bb. It sucks.
NY fam I wasn’t exaggerating about the fellas slowing down at all. They’ve got a set tonight at Brooklyn Bowl + a couple more this week so make sure you go dance and hug it out with them.
CRUSH CLUB LIVE IN NYC
1/3 @ Brooklyn Bowl w/ Escort
11/8 @ Ted Talk Salon (Private)
11/9 @ Club Cumming (DJ Set)
side note: do we think I could sneak into a private Ted Talk event? I feel like that would be the most *me* thing I could ever do in my life (Ted Talks + electro pop). 😂
[SONG OF THE DAY] LP GIOBBI - "Kupsa Kupsa"
If you’re not yet familiar with Los Angeles based producer, DJ, and fashion designer LP GIOBBI, allow me to get you well acquainted. After launching her project earlier in the summer with “Amber Rose”, a “fuck the haters”-esque anthem centered around reclaiming the world’s gaze in the same way that the feminist icon has in the past 10 years, LP GIOBBI (née Leah Chisholm) has continued to release songs over the last few months that promote self-love and champion inclusivity.
Her latest release, “Kupsa Kupsa” is a playful take on the central theme of her music. As LP explains, "The commonality in my tracks is a diversity of perspectives from the top lines,” Collaborating with Parisian rapper and producer H3RY LÜCK, the song features purely French lyrics that were written spur of the moment in the Uber ride to the studio. It’s been way too long since I was in AP French Lit so as with listening to any Yelle album I can only pick up bits and pieces, but I’m told the lyrics capture H3RY's love of cooking and detailing recipe steps for creating a perfect song. Apparently LP is in the same boat as I am regarding the lyrics, as she details,
“French and Malagasy are H3RY's first languages, and it was awesome to see him work so quickly and fiercely to throw down on this track. I was so impressed with his talent and how clever he is. It was further proof to me of how universal music is, because even though I couldn’t understand what he was saying, I could still feel it."
NY fam if you’re looking for a bomb ass night of dancing on Friday night you can come find me at Output catching sets from LP Giobbi, Crush Club, and SOFI TUKKER. You’ll be able to spot me easily as I will most likely be doused in all of the body glitter. ✨

WE OUT HERE THROWING #POSIPARTY VIBES TODAY FAM
Today I am happy to support local and hope they go global because if we’re being honest this song is giving me life today.
Last week, New York’s Crush Club released a bottle full of glitter and lightning in the form of “Higher”, a song the disco-crazed duo felt compelled to write about empowering yourself to plow through the tough times to get to your higher self. As they told BlackBook during last week’s premiere, “Whenever faced with obstacles, loss or any negative distraction, it can be difficult to make it through to the other side of whatever’s in your way. This song is a reminder that everyone knows how it feels to be down, so impossibly low, but that there’s always a way out, up, higher. We hope it lifts you!”
If this doesn’t fix whatever funk you may be in, I don’t know what will tbh.
Oh PS these dudes are stepping out to do some shows with SOFI TUKKER so if you happen to see them on the bill you make sure to show up in time to catch them! Dates and more info over on their Facebook.
The Future Is Looking Bright: A New Fischerspooner Album Appears To Be Coming Very Soon....FINALLY
Fischerspooner gonna Fischerspooner. 📷: Vincent Urbani
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this Instagram Story since I saw it two days ago.
Thank the lorde I recently decided to split my attention between Snapchat and Instagram Stories otherwise I would have missed out on this VERY interesting hint of awesome things to come:
from Casey Spooner's IG story
Do you guys remember almost a year ago TO THE DAY when the heavens briefly parted and sent down a Fischerspooner track in the form of a NICOPANDA video with some really stellar choreography because I sure as hell do!
Definitely haven't played this video an embarrassing number of times since it came out. That would be crazy. 😳
So yeah that video dropped
and
then
nothing
happened. :(
Well actually that's not true.
If you're just catching up like admittedly I am, a little bit of news started to leak out near the end of last year.
To bring you up to speed, these are the things that we know:
A Fischerspooner album titled SIR is coming.
It supposedly has been done since February 2016.
It is "unabashedly homosexual" #respect
Michael Stipe both co-wrote and produced it.
There is a song on said album that is apparently so good that it made Casey Spooner CRY (!!!)
Things are trending towards a release date existing because contracts have been signed.
Are we on the same page yet? Do you understand why I legit had trouble going to sleep the other night after I saw this? It was already enough of a challenge to prepare myself for having Fischerspooner back, but then you factor in BOOTS and newcomers (to my ears) Crush Club in the mix with them, knowing all the while that Michael Stipe has been carefully keeping watch over this project....
the future is actually starting to look bright, you guys.
Are you excited?
I'm so excited!
(btw you need to read the entire NICOPANDA interview with Casey Spooner. Bless that man)
